Family History Festival

There is still time to sign up as a participant at the Maryland State Archives second annual Family History Festival on Saturday, November 7, 2015 and we hope you will join us! Last year's inaugural event welcomed well over 500 visitors to the Archives in Annapolis to participate in hands-on workshops, to hear engaging lectures, and to meet with local historical and genealogical societies.

We would like to extend an invitation to you to be a part of this year's festival. As a featured exhibitor, your organization would have the opportunity to staff a table and to meet, greet and engage all festival guests. There is no charge to participate as an exhibitor. In addition, you may sell or give out your own publications, memberships, and promotional items at this event.

Some of the organizations who will be participating this year include the Maryland Genealogical Society, FamilySearch, African American Historical and Genealogical Society, and various county historical and genealogical societies.

Due to popular demand, and so that we may offer this free, unique opportunity to as many organizations as possible, table space will be shared. We are assigning 2 exhibitor organizations per each 8 foot long table. We will set up and provide the table, table covering, 2 chairs per organization, access to electrical outlets and free wifi. We would welcome you to attend with any number of employees/volunteers, but ask that only two individuals staff the table at any given time. We ask our exhibitors to bring their own handouts, brochures, items to sell, cash boxes/credit card processors for sales, and any electronic equipment/extension cords needed. This year the event will be open to the public on Saturday, November 7th from 10:00am until 4:30pm. Exhibitors will be asked to arrive before 9:00am for set up.

Spaces will be awarded on a first come, first served basis. The final deadline to reserve your space has been extended to Wednesday, September 30th. To reserve your space, please email or call Ms. Maya Davis at maya.davis@maryland.gov or 410-260-6461 as soon as possible.

We hope that you will join us! However, if you cannot, we ask you to please share this event with your membership by promoting through your mailing lists, newsletters, meetings, email blasts, and social media. Also, we would happily place any promotional materials for your organization (flyers, brochures, pamphlets, publications, announcements, etc.) in our registration goodie bags, if you supply them to us. To participate, we would need 500 copies no later than September 30th.

  • Announcement
We were informed August 22, 2014 that the genealogy collection of the Wicomico County Library located at the main branch in Salisbury is being given to the Nabb Center at Salisbury University. All that will be retained at the Wicomico Library are duplicates of references owned by the Nabb. Since there is a fee to use the Nabb Collection, there has been some unfinalized discussion as to whether those holding a Wicomico County Library card would be able to access the Nabb Collection for free.

  • Office Closed
Our former headquarters office, formerly located on North Division Street in Salisbury, has been closed. Items which were in the office, including our library and inventory of publications, has been moved to a renovated attic space in the home of Former LDGS President Jim Morris at 1220 Johnson Road, Salisbury, Maryland 21804. Members wishing to gain access to the LDGS library may contact Mr. Morris at (410) 742-4059 to schedule an appointment.
